All of the clothing on display in the store is specially designed and made by Sandra, the store’s owner. The reversible bustier, reversible Winter jackets and the dashiki beaded bags are the store’s number one sellers. Men weren’t left out, as the signature Tafari Tribe Rastafarian men shirts and jackets are popular among the studs. There is also a section for children. Upon walking through the front door, trendsetters and fashionistas in search of bright colors, patchwork patterns, African prints and Rastafarian colors will find themselves in for a treat – the store offers all of the above.
The store’s atmosphere is nothing short of inviting, interactive and cultural. The owners of the shop are aware that their display window alone, is enough to capture the attention of anyone walking by. There is no pressure to purchase anything before leaving because the shop is a staple in this Lefferts Gardens neighborhood.
Tafari Tribe Globe Trade stands apart from other stores on Flatbush avenue that speaks to younger urban generations of pop-culture. It is the staple of culture that this area needs.
The artwork that hangs throughout the store are all original pieces painted by a man in Gambia, south of the Sahara Desert. The artwork curated by the Tafari Tribe’s owner is nearly impossible to duplicate because they were all created with the intention of one if each piece existing. The sculptures of elephants, wooden masks and hand-crafted drums can all be attributed to the store’s interactive museum atmosphere. Every piece in the store compliments the other without losing touch of the overall vibe.
